Sober Thoughts
A moment of Clarity (Spider-Man 2)
“Hey, everybody, I wanted to revisit Peter/Spider-Man’s road to redemption. After the brush with the symbiote, his life was left in shambles. Now watch him pick up the pieces.”

It’ll all come crashing down eventually. The high fades away as once newfound confidence now reeks of shame. The strength of the Gods traded for timidity. Reaping the rewards of his awful actions, who knew sharing a bag with a demon would lead to such a poor outcome?
Playing with fire while ignoring the burns, his day of reckoning has set up shop in the living room. Peter stumbles into the kitchen, trying to assess the situation. Past aggressions flow into future fallacies as his moment of clarity is being strangled by yesterday’s misdeeds.

The carcass of Peter’s morality is riddled with bullets. Two sets of prints on the trigger prove the suit’s influence wasn’t the only one at fault. A ghost of responsibility haunts Peter as if he poked fun at an Ouija board. With a remorse-fueled hangover so violet that it threatens to rip the fabric of Peter’s reality.
A Noose of Regret
Peter bet against the house without knowing how to gamble. His sanity took a nosedive into a garbage disposal, and Peter uses the remains for a thought process. Things once cherished were forced to find sanctuary in a dumpster. Awful decisions hail from the sky while priorities drown in the negativity. Struggling to breathe, how is one supposed to-
Atone for his actions
Mend the bridges he set ablaze
Prove that he won’t make the same mistakes
- all while trying to save the day.

Blades of melancholy make ribbons of Peter’s heroic motives. A come-to-Jesus moment crucifies his ethos. With his sins plastered throughout the media, Peter stoned his own relationship with the public. Hatred is having a homecoming as The Spider family was left to rot in the pit of Peter’s consequences.
Action causes Reaction Bullshit
Pushback so forceful it caves in one’s chest. Rolling the dice for the freedom of insecurity sent Peter crashing into a windshield. While picking glass out of his eye, he can see the effect of embracing the spirit of contradiction.
The mind can understand that the symbiote played its part, twisting good intentions into creeds of malice. But the nervous system only remembers the fear, the darkness, the fury.

But it didn’t take a controversial take to know that Peter was being a little asshole. He took for granted that Miles would be okay without a mentor. A teenager who looked up to him so much that he almost died because of it. Then Harry, who resided on death’s door begging for salvation, was only met with an attitude and a cold shoulder.
The girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with is now in danger because of his carelessness. When it rains, it pours: melting the Peters foundation like a wicked witch. With his reflection, bastardized beyond recognition, it’s not just a mirror that’s the only thing around here that’s fractured. While the city cries in agony, he’ll need to crawl his way out of the abyss to make a difference.
A Choice
Spider-Man can choose to accept the person who just pays rent to blunders or strive to be better. We can pray that others move on and forget, or make subtle changes in our character. Peter could allow despair to hold his hand throughout life, existing in a haze of dulled senses. Or we can all grasp the fact that messy breaking up with depression is needed.
It may hurt, but find the positives in ripping the band-aid off. To kick the bucket without caring about the mess. Refusing to be prey, he denies doubt the chance to sink its fangs in.

Peter is tired of being held prisoner by his own rage. His future pleads for him to define what the emblem on his chest even means. The pain is temporary as prior offenses cling on for dear life. Spider-Man’s neck feels the pressure from a blade forged by his own shame, sharpened with his own shortcomings.
A Sad Reality
Peter needs to learn how to adjust to life without an escape. Grasping the fact that there were issues long before the costume change. His family has sacrificed so much of their own drive just to make sure he was able to swing through the city. But after giving so much, eventually the well ran dry.

Ignoring not only his soulmate but his own anguish as well. Uncheck sorrow will run more rampant than a giant lizard through Manhattan. No matter how many days seem to go by, the decent contiunes. If disregarded, detriment will will the swallow him whole. Smiling for others while guilt buries the ashes of his conscience.

Isolation is a fool’s mistake, as going about it alone will only lead to a swift downfall. The time to grieve will take its days with or without your permission. Wheter that causes you to act irrationally, or in Peters case, an alien-coated furious spider, it’s best to take a break.
Only action
The road that Peter walks on leads to a better future. Spider-Man has put aside everyone’s dreams, even Peter’s. A valiant effort was made, but the emotional labor doesnt stop at sunset. The star of the show is now letting others join him in the spotlight. If he stopped being Spider-Man today, luck would still be on his side.

Solitude may be the goal for some, but for Peter its debilitating. The value he adds to life is derived from teamwork. He almost missed the opportunity to be the role model the world deserves. Take a step back and appreciate the struggles that others go through just to see you happy. He’s been neglecting love, his friends, hell, even himself, and it took the symbiotic moment of clarity to see the truth.
